However, this type of essay is not description for description’s sake. The descriptive essay strives to communicate a deeper meaning through the description. In a descriptive essay, the writer should show, not tell, through the use of colorful words and sensory details. The best descriptive essays appeal to the reader’s emotions, with a result that is highly evocative. However, at the same time, they always gave me A’s. Underpinning the structure will be the ‘argument’ your essay is making. Again this may be strong and obvious, or it may be almost invisible, but it needs to be there. In different subject areas, and with different styles of writing, the term ‘argument’ may seem more or less relevant. Essay Structure

Essay Structure It’s about grammatical and pronunciation norms used in intellectual and academic activities. And since your essay is analytical and requires credibility, a formal language is what you need to make it sound so. To make a long story short for you, here go answers to the most frequently asked questions about critical essay writing. The first step in learning how to begin an essay is reading the essay prompt in a careful manner and comprehending what it requires. However, the truth is that the inability to understand the question in a proper manner is the sole contributor to disappointing grades when it comes to essay writing. For instance, evaluating the importance of a specific concept, assess something I a critical manner, compare and contrast something, and analyzing a specific circumstance among others. my problem is writing critical essay on a topic not on a book, article or film, I guess I will just have to follow the same layout and format the essay. Yes, essays are many, and it might seem impossible to learn the differences between them and the rules of writing them. Return to your plan, and see if you can use similar material but change the emphasis, and perhaps the odd bit of evidence, to produce a different argument. 4) Start to fill out your skeleton with information from your notes, and any extra ideas you might have. Also known as analytical, a critical essay is about evaluating somebody’s work (a movie, a book, an article, etc.) and proving that your evaluation is correct. A critical essay is a type of academic writing where the author analyzes and evaluates a text. For an essay to become critical, you need to claim a text’s particular ideas and then support that claim with evidence. I’ve already ordered four papers from here, and I love that I can always ask for the same writer I had before. Very convenient, and they always know what I need. After writing your essay, leave it for a while before you begin the proofreading process. An ideal tactic to use to learn how to make essay interesting is revising it with a fresh mind. While proofreading your paper, ensure that you are free from distractions and that all your focus and attention is on making the paper error-free. If you are through with revising your paper, you can ask your friend to revise it or read it out loud to you. Either way, you will spot the mistakes you did not see when you proofread your work. All you need to do is identify the purpose of your assigned work and outline it accordingly. Make sure to use a formal language in critical essays. Once the essay outline is ready, it’s time to write. (Yeap, finally!) Begin with an examination of the work and respond to its central claim. And finally, conclude your critical essay with the emphasis on its most essential insights. They need a paper demonstrating that you’ve read a source, understood its theme, and evaluated the evidence relating to that theme. Critical essays are among the most common types of writing assignments in college. Read them if you want your analytical essay to be A-worthy. Once you’ve completed the critical essay outline, it’s time to start writing. Do it quickly , paying attention to all the details from your outline. If you start writing lengthy descriptions of all characters and the plot, stop and double-check if this information helps your analysis. Critical essays are about interpretation and evaluation, not retelling the plot. The theme of the essay can range from personal achievements to political controversies. This means you can adjust your writing style to fit the message of the prompt. This guide will explain how to write a 500-word scholarship essay. Things To Consider Before Hiring A Customized Essay Writing Support

Things To Consider Before Hiring A Customized Essay Writing Support Here's more on When to Quote, Paraphrase, or Summarize. Now the essay is written, but you're not quite done. Reread what you've written, looking out for mistakes and typos. I need to find a wide font so I don’t have to write as many words to fill up the pages on my assignment. If you can send me in the direction of the best wide font to do this, that would be great. Depending on the genre of book you are writing, word count can be critical in whether or not your writing can actually be published. Publishers like certain genres to be within certain word counts, so any author who hopes to be published has to create their works within these counts. Quoting is reserved for lines of text that are identical to an original piece of writing. Paraphrasing is reserved for large sections of someone else's writing that you want to convey in your own words. Summarizing puts the main points from someone else's text into your own words. Many authors use word count as a motivational tool. To help them from getting stuck and editing each sentence over and over again as they write, they choose a minimum number of words they want to write each day. These words may not be perfect and will likely need to be heavily edited, but it gets the ideas down and keeps them from getting stuck on one area of their book. I have a paper with ~2800 words and it is 3 lines past the 4th page. Aye how many words do I have to put if I’m typing a 14 page essay. I agree that there are a lot of people who are overly concerned with word count, but there are legitimate reasons to keep it in mind as well. I think it depends a lot on your personality, but forcing myself to be consistent day in and day out helps me get my books done. Without a daily word count, I would never complete them. What am I supposed to do if I write 1000 words, but it doesn’t make the number of pages I want? I don’t think I should have to write more words just because mine happen to be shorter than my classmates. If it’s not something important to you and your writing, you can ignore it. Some of us get marked down points if we do not hit a certain word count or page count. If I’m assigned a paper and it has to be a minimum number of words, I worry about hitting that number. It dictates the information readers need to know and the order in which they need to receive it. Thus your essay's structure is necessarily unique to the main claim you're making. You might also want to consider the difference between quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing. I have a writing assignment in school, and it is always helpful to know how many pages I will need. I think that since teachers don’t give page assignments but only word count assignments, it’s difficult to imagine how many pages that will be. I write longer words than most, so most of my pages have less words than the estimates on this page. You should change them so they are more accurate for people who use longer vocabulary words. Do you know what fonts have the widest spacing so that they fill up the page more quickly? It’s a way to motivate them to get the book done. It works well for me, but I know others who don’t do well with it. Don't jumble too many ideas in each paragraph or the reader may become confused. Brainstorming can be a great way to develop a topic more deeply and to recognize connections between various facets of your topic. Write down everything that comes to mind as you can always narrow those topics down later. I wrote an essay of 1550 words and it was barely 4.5 pages .

You might want to rearrange paragraphs to a different position in your essay if they don't appear to fit in with the essay structure. You need to be concise, and clearly articulate your argument. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences. It is best to structure your essay according to key themes. The introduction is usually one paragraph 15% of total word length (don't get caught up on numbers). The introduction sets up the essay by presenting background information related to the essay question. The general focus on the introduction will then become more focussed on the essay question. You will then need to find some research based on the topic which can include text books, journal articles, conference papers etc. Firstly we explore the planning and preparation required to write a standard essay and then outline the basic essay structure. It is more appropriate to use original content to demonstrate your understanding. Each paragraph should have a purpose / theme, and make a number of points - which need to be support by high quality evidence. Be clear why each point is is relevant to the argument. The important point to remember is that you are not writing it for your teacher. An outline makes your assignment easier in that you don't need to worry about the sequence of your arguments. It is also a guarantee that there will be no point that you forget to include in an essay. The first step of the preparation process is to start collecting arguments. Do not focus only on the arguments that support your viewpoint. The ones that are against it will come in hand as well. Moreover, they can make you change the point of view you already have. Do not hurry and think carefully about the side you want to pick.

Writing An Essay? Here Are 10 Effective Tips

Writing An Essay? Here Are 10 Effective Tips Now you should have a solid grasp of a typical essay structure, but might not know how to actually begin structuring your essay. Some people have no trouble thinking everything out in their head, or putting together an outline, and starting with the introduction and finishing with the conclusion. It is important not to introduce any new ideas in the conclusion â€" it is simply a reminder of what your essay has already covered. It may be useful again to refer back to the title in the conclusion to make it very clear to the examiner that you have thoroughly answered the question at hand. Make sure you remind them of your argument by very concisely touching on each key point. Now, by argument we don’t mean a slanging match between two angry people. An idea or a claim, which is supported by logic and/or evidence. Every well-structured essay ends with a conclusion. Its purpose is to summarise the main points of your argument and, if appropriate, to draw a final decision or judgement about the issues you have been discussing. Sometimes, conclusions attempt to connect the essay to broader issues or areas of further study. Each paragraph is a point that you want to make that relates to the topic. In general, a short essay will have at least three full paragraphs; a long essay considerably more. You will note that this second example is far more concise yet none of the meaning is lost. It also uses present tense, and avoids informal terms. If you're really struggling - or just curious - you can also look into the Essay Writing Service from ourselves here at Oxbridge Essays. We can put together a comprehensive essay plan for you, which maps out your essay and outlines the key points in advance, and in turn makes the writing process much easier. Think of your introduction as a thumbnail picture of the whole essay. Anyone, but especially the marker, should know the essay subject and how you intend to prove or disprove it, just from having read just the introduction. You should already know this, but most professors and instructors will start grading your work in their head as soon as they begin reading it. They will be sorting your essay, maybe not in terms of a grade, but most definitely in terms of strong/weak, interesting/dull, or effective/ineffective. And most will have some notion of where your essay falls on that scale before they even finish the introduction. Sentences giving further explanation and providing evidence from both the literature and the data, e.g. the case study to support the topic sentence . Examples of this include questions which ask you to discuss, analyse, investigate, explore or review. In an analytical structure you are required to break the topic into its different components and discuss these in separate paragraphs or sections, demonstrating balance where possible. These, in turn, should support the overarching novel argument that you yourself are making. In essence, the wording of the essay question will tell you how the essay should be written. It will indicate where the focus of your essay should lie as you research and write. It will be the rarest of markers who withholds judgement until the end. The introduction is something you absolutely must start strong. Before you start, it is important to understand what type of essay you are required to write. The language of the question, especially the directive words, will indicate the type of essay and suggest an appropriate structure to follow in your essay. More information on directive words is contained in the QUT cite|write booklet . Logically structured body paragraphs which include supporting evidence from academic sources. Clear, concise, and precise language is a hallmark of academic writing. As such, it is important that you provide evidence when you are making a statement of fact, or drawing on arguments, frameworks, and theories presented by other academics.

9 Steps For Writing A Great Essay

9 Steps For Writing A Great Essay While your conclusion should give some indication of the paper's arc, it should more importantly focus on the take home idea you want your reader to have. Good overall organization depends on your ability to know and craft a separate intent into each paragraph. After dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s of the introduction, move on to the conclusion. You’ll want to summarize the points and provide a few lasting thoughts. Dialogue â€" Share two or three exchanges between speakers; give the reader a sample of what is to come. Startling Information â€" Share an interesting, true, verifiable and surprising bit of information. After you have a pretty extensive list, go back and analyze the potential of each. Follow up with a few sentences that elaborate the point. While you are writing, it would be handy to keep a dictionary and thesaurus handy. Don’t fret too much when you are at the organizing stage. There is a very real possibility the structure will change once you sit down to write. Right now, all you want to do is group your thoughts with the corresponding supportive evidence. Once you have mastered the general idea, it will be easy to replicate over and over until all your points have been explained. Look for historical or influential people in the subject area you are writing about. See if you can gather valuable opinions or biographical information. No, we aren’t referring to those thick, dusty volumes that line the shelf of the library’s resource section. Naturally, we are referring to a more modern tool. Once you have finished with the first paragraph, go on to the next. Essays may not be all that fun, but this method can help to make the writing process ever-so-slightly more aPEELing. This might involve revising your thesis statement to make a more ambitious argument. As you make an outline of your essay, make sure you have a clear idea of how much evidence, detail and argumentation will be needed to support your thesis. Use examples to support this argument in subsequent sentences and end the paragraph with a transitional sentence into your third and final body paragraph. Shona has a bachelor's and two master's degrees, so she's an expert at writing a great thesis. The primary purpose of an introductory paragraph is to pique the interest of your reader and identify the topic and purpose of the essay. We strongly recommend you revise an essay that is shorter than 250 words unless such a length is required by your professor. To lengthen your assignment, reread the writing and each body paragraph of it. May be, there are some unanswered questions, discussing which will add some words to your text. Sometimes, it is hard to come up with five paragraphs of classical structure within such a short format. The primary topic of a paragraph may be expressed in a topic sentence. The main topic of an essay, report, or speech may be expressed in a thesis sentence. The final part of the five-paragraph essay is the conclusion. This paragraph should restate the thesis statement, but the restatement must not be a duplicate of the thesis statement itself. The conclusion should also summarize the three major points you addressed in each body paragraph. But, is there an answer to that question of how many words you should write? We know that any essay is better to be not too long and not too short, but here, we will try to find a precise solution. Many things matter when you work on an academic essay. Hence, it is useful for one to take them into consideration while working on a 5-paragraph assignment. No one would be surprised if we say that an essay is the most common paper for students to prepare. That means those ten words is a reasonable average length. Now, twenty-five sentences times ten words makes 250 words or a double-spaced page. But that is only the minimum size, and you ought to look carefully in your professor's requirements for the answer or any specifications. If those of your high school or college professor don't provide important guidelines, we recommend asking your instructor directly and be confident about following appropriate standards. The final body paragraph is the fourth part of the five-paragraph essay, and this section should present your weakest argument in support of your thesis statement. End the third body paragraph with a concluding statement that makes it obvious to the reader that this is the final major point you will make. The third part of the five-paragraph essay should present the second most compelling argument in support of your thesis.

No matter what the Constitution says, and many decades after passing the fifteenth amendment, institutionalized racism remains real and was so even more poignantly during the days of Jim Crow. Fannie Lou Hamer spoke out against racism in America on the cusp of the Civil Rights movement, at a critical moment in American history. Delivered to a community meeting in 1964, Hamer’s speech â€Å"We’re On Our Way† motivates her audience to take action and demand all rights and freedoms rather than passively accept oppression. One of the cornerstone themes of Hamer’s address is the need to be unafraid of exercising fundamental rights and freedoms of speech and expression. Fear is one of the tactics used by the white oppressor to keep silent the African American community. Hamer uses powerful imagery, diction, and anecdotes to remind her audience that all African Americans—indeed all oppressed people—have succumbed to fear and intimidation. Fear and intimidation come in the form of police brutality and labor exploitation leading to widespread poverty, which diminishes the will to participate in the political process. Yet as Hamer points out, â€Å"if I have to die for this—we shall overcome,† (42). It is critical to overcome fear and intimidation, even the immediacy of hunger and anger, in order to take back rights and freedoms. Without a fight, the oppressors will continue to get away with their tactics and goals of maintaining power. In fact, Hamer points out that political activism will create a better nation and improve the quality of life for all people: â€Å"We are fighting to save these people from their hate† (42). A nation that professes to be about freedom, democracy, and the pursuit of happiness cannot be mired in hatred. Hamer also points out the ineffectiveness of religion in helping to improve conditions for African Americans. The preachers, note Hamer, have been urging pacifism, telling their congregations to avoid taking part in political marches. Yet Hamer points out the fallacy of their approach. â€Å"You can pray until you faint, but if you don’t get up and try to do something, God is not going to put it in your lap,† (39). Taking action is essential; God helps those who help themselves. Moreover, Hamer points out that preachers willingly accept money from politicians and likely urge pacifism only to appease those politicians to secure money for their churches: â€Å"heâ⠂¬â„¢s telling a big lie because every dollar bill got a politician on it and the preacher love it,† (47). Hamer therefore rallies against corruption at all levels of society, showing that oppression is systematic and pervasive. Political protest is an act of freedom, an exercise of the right of freedom of expression, guaranteed in the constitution. There is no reason to remain silent, and silent only serves to perpetuate oppression. Oppression in America is a race-based phenomenon as well as one that is class-based, creating intersectional oppression. â€Å"If you were born in America with a black face, you were born in the mess,† states Hamer (17). Using the metaphor of a mess draws attention to the urgency of the situation. The tone of Hamer’s speech is urgent, and to underscore the need for immediate action rather than passive waiting, Hamer uses rich imagery of police brutality that she has personally experienced. The narratives add depth and clarity to what would otherwise be abstract political issues. â€Å"We can no longer ignore the fact, America is not the land of the free and the home of the brave,† (35). Alluding to this clichà © of American identity shows how far the nation needs to come, in order to create a truly egalitarian society. Using potent imagery, diction, and a strong point of view, Hamer speaks on behalf of her people and all oppressed people in America and urges cha nge on behalf of creating a more perfect union. Should Student Loan Debt Be Forgiven - 1344 Words

Student Loan Debt: Should We Forgive? EN1123 Most Americans would agree that higher education is important. In the petition, Applebaum says, Forgiving the student loan debt of all Americans will have an immediate stimulative effect on our economy. With the stroke of the president s pen, millions of Americans would suddenly have hundreds, or in some cas es, thousands of extra dollars in their pockets each and every month to spend on ailing sectors of the economy. Basically, the already strained government would be taking the hit for billions of dollars, based on the hope that this money would find its way back to our local and national economy. The main problem I see is you cannot guarantee this is what will happen. It sets the whole Federal Loan system up for collapse. HR1330 is another bill recently introduced, which could provide some much-needed relief for borrowers. Instead of a bailout, this kind of plan would allow interest-free deferments to borrowers who become unemployed or who are enrolled in the current 10-10 plan. Client Server Technology free essay sample

Chapter 1 Client Server Technology: An Introduction Client/Server technology is a means for separating the functions of an application into two or more distinct parts. The client presents and manipulates data on the desktop computer. The server acts like a mainframe to store and retrieve protected data. Together each machine can perform the duties it is best at. Client-server computing or networking is a distributed application architecture that partitions tasks or work load between service providers (servers) and service requesters, called clients. [1] Often clients and servers operate over a computer network on separate hardware. A server machine is a high-performance host that is running one or more server programs which share its resources with clients. A client does not share any of its resources, but requests a servers content or service function. Clients therefore initiate communication sessions with servers which await (listen to) incoming requests. Client/server describes the relationship between two computer programs in which one program, the client, makes a service request from another program, the server, which fulfills the request. We will write a custom essay sample on Client Server Technology or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Although the client/server idea can be used by programs within a single computer, it is a more important idea in a network. In a network, the client/server model provides a convenient way to interconnect programs that are distributed efficiently across different locations. Computer transactions using the client/server model are very common. For example, to check your bank account from your computer, a client program in your computer forwards your request to a server program at the bank. That program may in turn forward the request to its own client program that sends a request to a database server at another bank computer to retrieve your account balance. The balance is returned back to the bank data client, which in turn serves it back to the client in your personal computer, which displays the information for you. The term client-server refers to a popular model for computer networking that utilizes client and server devices each designed for specific purposes. The client-server model can be used on the Internet as well as local area networks (LANs). Examples of client-server systems on the Internet include Web browsers and Web servers, FTP clients and servers, and DNS. A Client or a Server is so named depending on the extent to which the processing is shared between the client and server. Based on the criterion that how much of an application is placed at the client end or at the server end, the client/server can be thin /fat. Thin Client: This architecture places minimum functionality on the client machine. Fat Client: This architecture places more application functionality on the client machine. Such a client is a maintenance headache. Thin Server: This architecture places minimum functionality on the server machine. Fat Server: This architecture places more application functionality on the server machine. The current trend is towards fat server in client/server systems. The biggest advantage of using the fat server is that it is easier to manage because only the software on the servers needs to be changed, whereas updating potentially thousands of client machines is a real headache. 1. Client-Server Architecture A network architecture in which each computer or process on the network is either a client or a server. Servers are powerful computers or processes dedicated to managing disk drives (file servers), printers (print servers), or network traffic (network servers ). Clients are PCs or workstations on which users run applications. Clients rely on servers for resources, such as files, devices, and even processing power. A server machine is a high performance host that is running one or more server programs which shares its resources with clients. A client doesn’t share any of its resources. The client initiates communication sessions with servers which listen to incoming requests. The client programs makes a service request to another the server program. E-mail exchange, web access, and database access are based on client server model. The client server model has become one of the central ideas of network computing. Many business applications being written today use the client-server model. So do the Internets main application protocols, such as HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol), SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), Telnet, DNS (Domain Name System) etc are all based on client server technology. Each instance of the client software can send data requests to one or more connected servers. In turn, the servers can accept these requests, process them, and return the requested information to the client. Client server architecture can be of two types

Native Son Essays - Ethics, Native Son, RTT, Blindness,

Native Son Bigger Thomas has been shaped by various forces. Forces that have changed the life completely for Bigger Thomas. In Native Son, Bigger Thomas seems to be composed of a mass of disruptive emotions rather than a rational mind joined by a soul. Bigger strives to find a place for himself, but the blindness he encounters in those around him and the bleak harshness of the Naturalistic society that Wright presents the reader with close him out as effectively as if they had shut a door in his face. In the first book, Wright tells the reader these were the rhythms of his life: indifference and violence; periods of abstract brooding and periods of intense desire; moments of silence and moments of anger -- like water ebbing and flowing from the tug of a far-away, invisible force (p.31). Bigger is controlled by forces that he cannot tangibly understand. Bigger's many acts of violence are, in effect, a quest for a soul. He desires an identity that is his alone. Both the white and the black communities have robbed him of dignity, identity, and individuality. The human side of the city is closed to him, and for the most part Bigger relates more to the faceless mass of the buildings and the mute body of the city than to another human being. His mother's philosophy of suffering to wait for a later reward is equally stagnating -- to Bigger it appears that she is weak and will not fight to live. Her religion is a blindness; but she needs to be blind in order to survive, to fit into a society that would drive a seeing person mad. All of the characters that Bigger says are blind are living in darkness because the light is too painful. Bigger wants to break through that blindness, to discover something of worth in himself, thinking that all one had to do was be bold, do something nobody ever thought of. The whole things came to him in the form of a powerful and simple feeling; there was in everyone a great hunger to believe that made them blind, and if he could see while others were blind, then he could get what he wanted and never be caught at it (p.102). Just as Bigger later hides himself amidst the catacombs of the old buildings, many people hide themselves deep within their minds in order to bear the ordeal of life and the oppression of an uncaring society. But their blindness allows them something that Bigger cannot achieve: it allows these people to meld into the society that is the city, while Bigger must stand at the outside of that community alternately marvelling and hating the compromises of those within. Bigger is alone; he is isolated from every facet of human affection. Max tells the court that Bigger cannot kill because he himself is dead, and a person without empathy or sympathy, without the deep, steadying love of family or faith in anything. When he lashes out in violence it is in a way a search for what hurt him; he hurts others because it is a way of hiding that he is hurt and afraid.). If one considers life to be a period of growth and learning, recognition of self-worth and of the worth of others, then Bigger has not been given the chance to live. Book Three is called Fate, and indeed Bigger seems to be controlled his entire life by ambivalent outside forces who could care less about him. He has been lied to until he believes the lies he tells himself. He has no place in society. His own mother believes in him no more than the billboard reading you can't win that he sees each day outside his apartment. He has grown up in an environment where enormous rats fester in holes and water is a maybe situation, where meals are precarious and money is almost nonexistent, and where he is told time and time again that he has no worth, no dignity, no intelligence or creativity. Is it any wonder that Bigger is violent? It seems more fantastic that all of the people around him are not. When he says, upon reading the paper No!
